- I loved their enemies-to-friends dynamic in the movie, and I'd love to see them take that final step to being lovers!
- Anything where they fix some kind of supernatural problem/defeat some kind of creature while also pining/getting together would be awesome!
- I absolutely loved that first fight between the two of them, so maybe some sexy sparring?
- Building on the above suggestion, I had this sort of vaguely identity porn-ish idea of one of them (probably Qing Ming) disguising himself to fight with the other without them knowing who it is. Eventually the other works it out, but they probably keep pretending they don't know out of amusement. Or maybe they're both pretending they don't know just for the fun of it?

Just like Dark Matter, I love the horror and creepiness of this book! What happened to Arthur Ward got to me in such a deep, visceral way, and it made me obsessed with this book!
- Maybe something from Arthur-the-ghost's point of view? What's it like, being stuck in that form, on that mountain, never able to let go? Has he haunted anyone else? Killed anyone else?
- Or maybe the Lyell expedition from Arthur's point of view - right to the bitter end?
- Maybe Stephen going back to the mountain - what on earth is enough to tempt him back there? Maybe he meets someone who claims to be an exorcist, who says they can lay Arthur's spirit to rest - and that Kits might be lingering there too, so Stephen feels duty-bound to go help his brother? What is it like for Stephen to return and face the ghost again? Is he stronger this time, or just as helpless in the face of it's anger? Is Kits really trapped there too? Does Garrard come with him again? Does someone die again - and is it Stephen this time? (Full permission to have main character death here if that's what you'd like to do!)
- Or maybe someone else goes up the mountain and experiences the haunting? I would love to see the haunting from an original character's perspective - maybe a modern climber? Or building on that, maybe this climber is an exorcist, and they manage to lay Arthur's spirit to rest? A lot of people die on mountains, so is this person someone who goes around exorcising ghosts from many different mountains?

Worldbuilding
I absolutely love the little worlds that these pieces create, and I would love to know anything more about them!
For each place - how was it built? Who lived there while it was inhabited? How did it come to be abandoned? How did the Guardian come to be there - were they there before the people left, or did they move in afterward? I would love to see how either the people who originally inhabited the structure or those who come exploring afterward interact with each guardian.
The Forgotten Shrine - Feel free to dig into the story given in the video description if you like, about the man who intended to commit suicide by jumping into the ocean at the shrine. What's his story? Why did he want to die, and why did he pick such an odd location to do it? Why did the shrine guardian save him? What does he do afterward? Perhaps he goes back to try and revive the shrine as a form of thanks to the guardian? Or go completely in your own direction with this - I would be interested in knowing how this shrine came to be, where it is, and maybe something about someone re-discovering it/wanting to revive it.
The Well That Never Runs Dry - Again, feel free to use the description in the video or not. Is the creature in the well really the incarnation of a god? Does the water there really heal the sick? Perhaps someone has gone on a pilgrimage/desperate quest to get the water to help heal someone important to them? And who originally discovered the well and its properties? Were they led to it by the god/guardian? Do you have to pass some kind of test in order to get the well water?
The Castle of Silence - In the video he says he envisions the Guardian as a "servant waiting for the King's triumphal return", and I love the idea of the heir to this kingdom? bloodline? castle? coming back and discovering this terrifying monster - who isn't actually so terrifying, really, because they've been a friend of this person's family for hundreds of years. So who is this person and what are they the heir to? Why do they have to reclaim it? How do they relate to this monster that's potentially hundreds or thousands of years old now?

I love everything about this book, from the plot to the setting to the characters to the horror. Go as scary as you like with your fic, I will love it! I love Jack and his prickly exterior that hides a softer centre, and how determined he is to not let everybody else down and to complete their task out on the island. I love how he’s either not really aware of being in love with Gus at first, or tries to hide it in his written journals. I love how Gus is like an action hero but doesn’t seem to realise it, and he’s just so earnest and well-meaning despite sometimes putting his foot in his mouth. I love how Algie is given a hard rap by Jack, especially at the beginning, but he clearly has his good characteristics too and the two of them eventually become good friends.
Prompts:
- Any kind of Gus Lives!AU. Maybe Jack manages to save him right at the end?
- I would love some post-canon AU feels where Gus and Jack work out they’re into each other and how to go forward with their lives.
- I would absolutely love if by some circumstance Algie had to leave Gruhuken sometime after they arrived (perhaps he’s the one who gets appendicitis?) which leaves Gus and Jack on their own confronting the monster. Would love if this included any sort of huddling for warmth/Canadian shack type tropes, or saving one another from the monster, or helping each other hold onto their sanity when they think they’re going mad. And I would love if Algie came in at the eleventh hour to save them just like in canon (but no one dies please!)
- I would also enjoy seeing how things would be different if Algie had managed to make it back to Gruhuken after taking Gus to the doctor. Would he and Jack be at each other’s throats constantly or would they come to understand each other? What would it take to take them to admit to their sightings of the ghost, and how would they deal with it together?
